Kerri Mclean: Pursuing a Healthy Lifestyle

For the past four years I have been in the process of learning to live a healthier lifestyle, this includes diet and exercise.  At first I did not realize what “living a healthy lifestyle” even meant.  To me, it was eating less junk food and going to the gym.  Or I thought as long as I was going to the gym I could still eat whatever I wanted.  Boy was I wrong!!  Thanks to Charity and all of her wonderful programs I have learned an incredible amount about healthy lifestyles.  What to eat, how much to eat, when to eat, how to determine a food intolerance and then avoid that food.  Fitness is another story, I have always loved working out and have had a gym membership most of my life.  I wasn’t consistently doing the proper exercises for the outcome I was expecting, or I would miss going for months at a time commitment was hard for me.  Busy lifestyle with kids, husband, work and other responsibilities I was always putting myself last.

I have completed the Nutrition Repo, Summer Shred and Fed, Hormone Workshop and a Personal Trainer Program where Charity created a workout plan for me to achieve very realistic goals that worked awesome with my schedule and lifestyle.  (Let’s call it a NO excuses workout plan!!)  We started out with a big workout I was rushing to get done every morning and soon Charity adjusted it to a streamlined plan that worked fabulously and gave me plenty of time for morning routine.  I started out with a 10-20 second max plank and soon worked up to 3 sets of 45 seconds no problem!

The most positive change I made was to my Diet!!  I did not realize how unhealthy all of those processed foods are, I thought a granola bar, an apple and a yogurt was an amazing snack lol.  It can be, if you choose the home made granola bar with no added processed sugar and lots of protein.  It is surprising how easy it is to keep up with your lifestyle once you are well educated and commit to it.  The choices for food are endless and delicious.Exercise!  Make a workout plan or work with Charity to make one for you.  I was amazed by this transformation, my body was getting strong! I absolutely LOVE Charity’s positive outlook on life and her attitude, she consistently brings her A game and is always open and honest with realistic solutions to real life problems.  Making these changes has improved my quality of life and is teaching my children that it is important to take time for yourself, respect and appreciate your body.

Make a change,  DO IT!!  The hardest part is getting started, once you start, you will realize how amazing you feel and you’ll become addicted to being healthier and happier.  Don’t give up, we ALL have those days where you just don’t feel like getting up and going to the gym or you just really want to eat that chocolate bar.  That is OK!  This part was something super important I learned from Charity, if you make a mistake, own it, move on and do better tomorrow.  Don’t get down on yourself for it. You don’t have to go to the gym 7 days a week, select a routine that works for you that you can commit to. Find a workout buddy, it’s fun to have a little friendly competition but also you will motivate each other to stay on track.
